Google Builds Hype On Android 11; Developer Preview Website Briefly Goes Live - International Business Times

KEY POINTS

  • Google is preparing to launch the Android 11 Developer Preview
  • Earlier, the Android 11 Developer Preview went live
  • Google quickly took down the site and now it links to Android 10 developer's page

The search engine giant Google has not yet said anything about the Android 11. But, it seems like the Android developer preview is just around the corner. Google accidentally place the Android 11 Developer Preview live on its site before it realized the mistake and took it down.

Android 11 Developer Preview

Last year, Google dropped the developer preview of Android 10 in Mar. The link, which earlier shows that Android 11 Developer Preview now links to Android 10’s developer’s page. But, of course, the Internet, particularly Android Police, already got a screenshot of the site before it was taken down.

Based on the screenshot, there are several interesting things that the search engine giant shared about the Android 11, which developers could look forward to. The site mentions Behavior Changes, which is referred to as system changes that could affect the app when running on Google’s next mobile OS, Android 11. Privacy Changes was also mentioned, which might introduce new safeguards, to support apps, and to protect the privacy of the user.

The Android 11 Developer Preview site also talked about new features and APIs for foldables, connectivity, sharing, media, biometrics, NNAPI, and more. The mention of foldables should not be a surprise since Google is already working on making the new smartphone design an accessible form factor for both developers and OEMs. It appears that Android 11 would offer more direct support to foldables when it becomes available.

Other Android 11 Details

So far, nothing is official yet about the Android. Earlier, we saw reports claiming that the next Google mobile platform might feature Share to Print. This feature would make it easier for Android users to print images and PDFs. Other rumors claimed that the Android 11 would feature dark mode scheduling.

Based on Google’s immediate removal of the Android 11 Developer Preview, it looks like it was accidentally set live. The team might not be ready yet to unveil the new Android mobile operating system. It is worth mentioning that Google launched Android 10 as Android Q Beta last year in the middle of Mar. Android fans can expect that Google might drop the Android 11 of Android R beta around the same time this year.
