As per the announcement, users of the above mentioned device will start receiving the software updates starting May 4. As always, the rollout will be done in a phased manner. “The OTA update will roll out in phases depending on carrier and device. Users will receive a notification once it becomes available” said Google on the support page. Users can also check the update manually by using the following path - Settings > System > Advanced > System update.
In its bulletin, Google said that the update has two security patches levels. Explaining the reason behind it, it wrote: “This bulletin has two security patch levels so that Android partners have the flexibility to fix a subset of vulnerabilities that are similar across all Android devices more quickly.”
Meanwhile, the company is gearing up to launch the affordable Pixel 4a. Recently, a handset was spotted on Geekbench listing that is being alleged to be the Google Pixel 4a. The listing reveals the name of the handset as ‘Google sunfish,’ which in the past has been claimed to be the codename of the Pixel 4a by XDA Developers. The Geekbench listing shows that the Google Pixel 4a will run on Android 10 operating system and offer 6GB RAM. The handset has scored 2,529 and 6,366 on single-core and multi-core tests as per the listing. A previous report claimed that the next Google Pixel smartphone — Pixel 4a — will go on sale on May 22.
