The Birmingham Police Department on Monday announced the release of its smartphone app.

The app will serve as the newest way for police to connect with Birmingham residents and visitors. BPD joins multiple police agencies throughout the state and country in making information available through smart phones.

Through the app, the community can:

- Submit a tip

- Research sex offenders in the area

- Receive push notifications

- Connect to the organization’s social media platforms

- Read the latest news and find out about upcoming events

- View the command staff at the Birmingham Police Department

- Search jail information

- View crime statistics

The Birmingham Police Department app is available for download for free in the App Store and Google Play by searching “Birmingham Police AL.”
