Generic System Images (GSIs} enabled the android devices that comes with Treble support to use Stock AOSP android and any other GSIs. Moto G5 Plus received unofficial treble support thanks to dev Vache. As we know Google officially supported the GSI system and released documentations on how to build GSIs. After the Pie sources release devs started working on building GSI and making custom ROMs. As of now for Moto G5 plus there is no Pie based custom ROM is available, but thanks to project treble, we can use the GSIs which are based on Android 9.0.
Here I am sharing the tutorial to flash Pixel Experience Pie GSI on MOTO G5 Plus. Please read the whole article before flashing it on your phone.
Files Needed
- Lineage Vendor (149mb)
- Pie-GSI-fixes by shiv
- Ace Kernel
- GSI image of Pixel Experience Pie (arm64- a only)
- Magisk 17.1
- Treble enabled TWRP
Remember
The pixel experience GSI comes in a Zip format, you have to extract it first using any archive manager like Zarchiver or Winrar. You will get a .img file after extracting, this is what we need. Pixel Experience GSI already includes gapps, we do not have to flash gapps separately. Make sure you using treble enabled TWRP.Video
Steps
- Wipe data/system/cache/dalvik cache
- Flash Treble-vendor-potter zip
- Flash the Pixel experience GSI as system image .img (after clicking Install Image you will see it)
- Flash Pie-GSI-fixes_by-shiv
- Flash Ace Kernel
- Flash Magisk
- Reboot
