Twitter says issues with Android app have been fixed and users are 'good to go ahead and update' - USA TODAY

UPDATE: Twitter has resolved issues with the latest version (8.28.2) of its Android app that was causing crashes upon launch. The company stated in a tweet, Android users are "good to go ahead and update when it becomes available."

If you were thinking about updating your Twitter app, Android users, you might want to sit tight.

Twitter stated Tuesday it was investigating a problem with its newest update for Android. The latest version causes crashes within seconds of launching the app once installed.

“If you use Twitter for Android, we suggest not updating it until we let you know it's fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience!,” Twitter Support shared in a tweet.

Android users looking to prevent the issue can do so by temporarily turning off automatic updates. Open the Play Store app and then head to Settings, click Auto-Update Apps  and then select Don't Auto-Update Apps.

If you have already installed the latest update, Android users on Reddit and Twitter have suggested this quick fix in the meantime: Open Settings, click Apps and Notifications, then select Twitter, locate the storage and cache menu, then clear your storage and cache.
