Almost every smartphone maker has its own solution to help users transfer files to the same company’s smartphones. However, if you share images, videos, or other data over the phone from other OEMs, these solutions will not work as expected.

To find a solution to this problem, a few years ago, three Chinese smartphone makers, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, worked together to create a platform called the Mutual Transmission Alliance (MTA). The sole purpose of this partnership is to speed up peer-to-peer data transfer.
