Almost every smartphone maker has its own solution to help users transfer files to the same company’s smartphones. However, if you share images, videos, or other data over the phone from other OEMs, these solutions will not work as expected.

To find a solution to this problem, a few years ago, three Chinese smartphone makers, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, worked together to create a platform called the Mutual Transmission Alliance (MTA). The sole purpose of this partnership is to speed up peer-to-peer data transfer.

It is now reported that even Samsung has joined this elite OEM league with other brands such as ASUS, Black Shark, Hisense, MEIZU, OnePlus, Realme and ZTE.

According to the report, Samsung will be able to integrate the MTA protocol into the quick share feature, allowing users to seamlessly transfer data between smartphones and laptops of different brands.

The technology developed by these companies does not require an internet connection and relies on Bluetooth (BLE standard) to transfer files containing images, music, documents, videos, compressed packages and other specifications. Once paired, the actual data transfer will take place over a P2P connection based on Wi-Fi Direct. The average speed of data transfer with this protocol is about 20 Mbps.

That said, there are some tools already available on core Android operating systems like Nearby Share. It is designed by Google to help you transfer data between your smartphone and your laptop. However, compared to the protocol developed by the MTA, Nearby Share has a very slow data transfer rate and a high failure rate.

Samsung, on the other hand, also has its own file-sharing technology, but because it’s part of a common ecosystem, Korean brands can take advantage of this technology to make it easier for users to share data with friends and family. I will. Currently, there is no timeline for when Samsung will begin deploying a new and improved file-sharing system for its users.
