Happy birthday, Instagram!
To celebrate its decade of existence, the photo-sharing platform is letting users add their classic icons to their phones. Plus, they’re offering a secret menu that will let folks revert to other old-school icons — remember Hipstamatic?
Here’s how to change the Instagram icon: For both Android and iOS stores, be sure the apps are their most updated versions.
After updating to the most recent version, open up Instagram and tap the “Profile” icon. Then select the settings option in the upper right corner. Drag the entire menu section down till the emojis pop up. Confetti will arise on your screen.

There are 13 different icons that users can select from, and then display on their home screen, including one of the pre-launch options that might not be as recognizable. OG fans may want to opt for the classic brown polaroid option from when the app first went mainstream.
The new feature is a nod to the app’s long history and cultural relevance — for better or for worse. The app has helped launch an entirely new career for influencers now raking in big bucks through their posts. Now, when celebrities join, such as Sir David Attenborough and Jennifer Anniston, it makes headlines.
