Clubhouse: Is The Invite-Only App Available On Android Yet? - Screen Rant

Clubhouse is currently not available on Android although that is expected to change in due course. In spite of the app proving to be a popular option for iPhone users, the arrival of Clubhouse on Android has taken its time. While the wait will eventually come to an end, it is unlikely to soon enough for those looking forward to listening in on their Android devices.

After launching as an iPhone exclusive, Clubhouse has continued to attract new users and is currently listed as one of the top ten 'social networking' category apps on the iOS App Store. Unlike other social networking apps, Clubhouse places its focus on an audio-first experience. Essentially, the app places less of an emphasis on posting and more on being in a virtual room with others and actually talking.

In a recent blog posting, Clubhouse explained that it is “thrilled” to turn its attention to the Android app. This alone reconfirms the service’s plans to release on Android. However, the thrilled comment was in reference to how Clubhouse plans to “begin work on our Android app,” clearly indicating it has yet to really even start the process of working on the Android version. Furthermore, the posting also says the plan to ‘begin work’ will happen "soon" suggesting an even longer wait.

Is Clubhouse Worth The Wait?

While it seems likely that Clubhouse will still take some time to make its way to Android devices, it has proven to be a popular option on iOS. With so many people owning an Android phone, that popularity is likely to surge once it does arrive on Google's operating system. In sayin that, whether is is worth waiting for is likely to come down to the individual. For one thing, Clubhouse has particularly proved popular with Silicon Valley. Therefore, if in that area, then the app is likely to offer even greater appeal than for those in other areas. In addition, Clubhouse is not the only app that offers this type of functionality. For example, Twitter recently started testing a new ‘Spaces’ feature, its version of Clubhouse, which may help some to decide whether Clubhouse is worth the wait. After all, and although Twitter Spaces is still limited in its availability, if the general premise is not of interest to an individual then it is likely Clubhouse won’t be either.

Of course, there is also the issue of invites. Unlike other social networking apps currently available, individuals require an invite to use Clubhouse and while that might change in due course, there’s no indication it will when the app launches on Android. In other words, it is unlikely to matter when Clubhouse launches on Android for some users, if they are unable to secure an invite to begin with.
