  • OnePlus has announced a release schedule and eligible phones for Oxygen OS 11.
  • The Android 11-based open beta update will reach the OnePlus Nord this week.
  • The firm will also update the OnePlus 6 and all later models with the latest software.

Over the weekend, OnePlus released a forum post about when it plans to release the latest Oxygen OS 11 update to its phones. The Android 11-based software is currently available on the OnePlus 8T and the OnePlus 8 series and according to the company, it’ll soon roll out to existing and older phones — in this case, the OnePlus 6 and later models.

The first in line to receive Oxygen OS 11 this month will be the OnePlus Nord. The phone was updated to Oxygen OS 10.5.10 last week and OnePlus says it’ll initiate the first Android 11 open beta build for it sometime this week. There’s still no timeline as to when the stable release will follow, but the company says it’ll conduct staged rollouts after collecting feedback from beta users.

Many OnePlus 7 and 7T users have also been eagerly awaiting the Android 11 update. OnePlus previously confirmed to Android Authority that it would arrive on the phones before the end of 2020. However, the firm now says that it encountered a data encryption issue while porting the update to the phones. That said, it has worked with Qualcomm to resolve the problem and expects to release the first Oxygen OS 11 open beta for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series shortly after concluding the ongoing closed beta testing.

As for the OnePlus 6, Oxygen OS 11 will be its third major Android update. The phone was released with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed and was supposed to receive only two big updates, so it’s nice to see that OnePlus is giving users an extra one there.

The OnePlus 6T, on the other hand, came with Android Pie out of the box and hence was already in line to get Android 11. Lastly, the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 are also in the queue to receive the software. The phone maker says it’ll share more details about the update schedule for these phones at a later date.
