ALTON — Residents who look forward to the annual community scavenger hunt held each year during the Mississippi Earthtones Festival in Alton will not be disappointed.
The free family activity is still planned as part of this year’s festivities using smartphone technology.
The event is planned 3-7 p.m. Saturday as part of the annual festival hosted by Alton Main Street and Sierra Club. This year’s hunt will be conducted via a phone app that will lead participants across 10 stops throughout the downtown area. With multiple challenges at each stop, participants will search for clues, answer trivia questions and take photos with teammates as part of the hunt.
Participants can also expect to discover a number of memorable features along the hunt, such as a secret fairy garden. The hunt is expected to take participants about two hours. The first 50 people to complete the hunt will receive a festival T-shirt.
The scavenger hunt is presented in partnership with Let’s Roam, an adventure and tour company offering digitally-guided scavenger hunt tours, scavenger hunts, virtual games, team building activities and custom events. Saturday’s hunt in Alton is just one of more than 400 such events by the company worldwide.
Those looking to join the hunt can register at downtownalton.com. Upon registration, participants will be able to access the Alton scavenger hunt by downloading the “Let’s Roam” app to their smartphones or visiting www.letsroam.com/alton from a mobile device, where they will be able to type in the join code provided at registration.
