https://ift.tt/2KSW0PQ

We use our web browsers so much throughout the day, whether it's looking up a random song lyric we can't quite place or bookmarking recipes or tips to come back to later. And most of us typically put up with our Android's default web browser, which is usually Google Chrome, or Samsung Internet if you have a Samsung device.

But with how easy it is to switch your phone's default internet browser, you shouldn't have to put up with a less-than-perfect browser. Google Chrome is an excellent web browser, but there are other more full-featured or private options out there like DuckDuckGo, Brave, or Vivaldi.

Regardless of which web browser you switch to, here's how to do it.

How to Change Your Phone's Default Web Browser

Switching up your phone's default internet browser will take you mere minutes. It's important to note that before a new web browser will show up as an option in your phone's settings, you need to download it from the Google Play Store.

Just follow these simple steps and you'll be on your way to better browsing.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android smartphone.
  2. From there, tap on the Apps tab.
  3. Now select Default apps. If you can't see this option, you may need to tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner to find it.
  4. Tap on Browser app.
  5. From here, choose your selected web browser from the ones that you've downloaded from the Google Play Store and you're good to go.

If you have a Samsung phone, the directions are slightly different but still relatively similar.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Samsung smartphone.
  2. From there, tap on the Apps tab then select Choose default apps.
  3. Tap on Browser app.
  4. From here, choose your selected web browser that you've downloaded from the Google Play Store and you're done.

How Many Different Web Browsers Are There?

There are a plethora of different web browsers out there for you to download, but here are a few of the most popular:

  • Google Chrome
  • Vivaldi
  • DuckDuckGo
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Brave
  • Opera
  • Firefox

Many of the web browsers mentioned above come with built-in ad or tracking blockers, which can help your browsing stay more private and secure. A few of them focus more on customization of the theme or layout of the user interface than on privacy, and some support desktop extensions and add-ons.

So figure out what's important to you when browsing the internet and choose a default browser based on your needs.
