In its Q2,2022 earnings release, Apple has reported a growth of 5% in iPhone revenue. The company has reported that the iPhone revenue went up from $47.88 billion in the same quarter a year ago to $50.57 billion.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, in an interview with CNBC, mentioned that they have noticed a significant surge in the upgrades during this quarter, as well as they, have also witnessed growth in the number of people switching to iPhone from Android.
In relation to that, Apple has an app called Move to iOS, a data transfer app that allows Android users to seamlessly switch from Android to iPhone. The app also allows users to download similar or same apps that are installed on the Android device.
However, if you are looking to give up your Android smartphone for an iPhone, there are certain things that you need to keep in mind.
Data transfer
One major concern while switching from any smartphone is data that is already stored in the older device. This includes contacts, media files, documents and app data. Thankfully, Apple allows users to move almost all the data including email accounts, app data and multimedia files from Android to iPhone.
Most of the data while switching from Android to iPhone will be moved seamlessly.
WhatsApp backup is an issue
It is important to know that currently there’s no way of moving WhatsApp chat backup from Android to iPhone. So, switching from Android to iPhone will result in the loss of all the previous WhatsApp chat backup from Android devices.
Google apps and services
Google is everywhere and we can’t imagine our lives without Google apps and services. iOS has all the Google apps and services available including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Photos, etc.
The native apps are different
This one is obvious, Android smartphones come with pre-installed Google apps or OEM developed apps like Phone, Calendar and Chrome. On iPhone, each one of them will be replaced by Apple apps like Mail, Apple Calendar and Safari.
So, you might take a while to get hang of the Apple apps. However, as already mentioned, iPhone supports almost every Google app, so you can download Chrome, Google Calendar, etc on iPhone as well.
Different accessories
This one is big and expensive at the same time. Apple devices are a part of the ecosystem and the iPhone is most compatible with Apple accessories. For instance, the AirPods, Apple Watch or AirTags are among the best-known accessories for Apple. All these devices come with a dedicated chip that allows them to pair quickly with iPhone or other Apple devices, the same can’t be done with accessories manufactured by other OEMs.
User interface
Apple iOS comes with its own user interface. Although it is pretty simple and easy to use. But for someone who’s switching to an iPhone for the first time, it can be a little complicated.
How to switch from Android to iPhone
Switching from Android to iPhone is as simple as switching from Android to Android. All you need to do is create an Apple account and start the setup process on the iPhone. During the setup process, Apple asks users whether they want to transfer data from their previous device and the option includes Android. Just follow the instructions to transfer data from Android to iPhone and continue with the setup process.
